There are many ways to design your Forester wood support structure . . .

You can support your ShadeTree canopies with a simple wood frame:
A frame of 4 x 4 posts is all that is needed. For a more rugged and handsome look, we recommend 6 x 6 posts and 4 x 6 beams.

Or, for quick installation our bracket kits make installation easy, using standard lumber from your local lumber yard. See our Garden Getaway and Alpine Shade Retreat bracket kits below.
Possible ways to finish the ends of your FORESTER wood supports:
"Chamfered Ends"
Double Beam
Bolted to Post

"Scalloped Ends"
Double Beam
Bolted to Post
(with notched post)
"Scalloped Ends"
Overlapping
Double Beams
Bolted to Post
You can incorporate canopies into a wood-beam structure . . .
As an alternative to our standard, 2-sided aluminum FORESTER tracks, ShadeTree®, canopies can be mounted between beams using single-sided, "Strip-Track".

Garden-Getaway Bracket Kits
make construction easy with these self-squaring & attractive brackets

A specially-designed steel corner post support system makes this a very strong structure. The design specifies husky 6 x 6 (actually 5-1/2" x 5-1/2") posts with 4 x 6 beams. Posts do not need to be buried into the ground as the heavy-duty corner brackets add sufficient strength for a stand-alone system. The steel brackets and handsome post caps are pre-painted a pleasant garden green to coordinate with most fabric colors. Corner brackets can also
be used for structures attached to house.

If your backyard space is limited, or mounting to your home is not an option, these cantilever "Alpine" bracket kits are a great way to create your own shaded retreat. Using only two pressure-treated 6 x 6 posts (set in concrete in the ground) and 2 x 4 lumber, we provide the brackets, a handy diagram and list of lumber requirements. We can even arrange for installation and/or lumber purchase and delivery through your local Lowes or Home Depot!
